History:October 1836. Receiving her engines.
2nd May 1839. A suspicious death of Johann Brewer accrued will on passage from Hamburg to London.
4th September 1839. Inquest was held on Johann Brewer.
8th December 1839. Fire in the coal-bunkers and engine-room and suffered miner damage.
8th August 1840. Run-down a skiff, braking a man’s leg.
9th September 1840. Sailed from Hamburg for London. 120 miles out fell in with ‘Caledonian’ with broken main shaft. Took her in tow for Hamburg when her own machinery broke. The steamer ‘Severn’ took them both in tow for Cuxhaven.
5th September 1842. The largest number of beasts imported from Hamburg since the new tariff come into operation of the new act arrived at London by Captain Stranack. They were forty-nine in number, and were of a superior quality to those hitherto imported from the same quarter, and, considering the rough passage, arrived in good condition.
9th January 1846. Went no higher than Gluckstadt, due to the ice on the river.
2nd February 1846. Arrived in the Port of London, Captain Stranack from Cuxhaven, bringing the Hamburg and Bremen mail. The master reports, at leaving the wind blew fresh at N.E. and the ice was floating five miles below Cuxhaven, but weather comparatively mild during the day, with slight frost at night.
